A bridge is a way of permanently replacing a missing tooth. The dentist will take an impression so that the bridge perfectly fits and replaces your missing tooth. He will then fit the bridge in the second visit.
Bridges are secured in the mouth by bonding to the adjacent teeth. The teeth either side are prepared (as if they are having crowns fitted). The bridge will therefore comprise the new tooth and the new tooth – as part of a three unit bridge comprising two supporting crowns – is then bonded to the adjacent prepared teeth.
